I thank God for the message he gave you. I so desperately needed to hear these words he had for me and so many others. I definately was becoming very anxious and defeated, but his word refreshened my soul. Not only for repentance of my unbelief and for my anxiousness, but also as a beacon of light and hope in my families difficult circumstances right now. I thank you so much!! God Bless You!!!

Nev, thanks for your comments. you are corrent that homosexual sins are not the only kinds of sins, which is why paul lists it along side other sins. the problem today is that secular contemporary culture is trying redefine homosexual activity as normal, acceptable, even moral activity. that's why biblical christians must repeat over and over again that it is not acceptable to God, that it in fact is sin. in stating that homosexual activity is sin, it comes across as emphasizing this one sin against other sins, but in order to make the point, that homosexual behavior is sin, we must continue to repeat ourselves even at the risk of being misunderstood. no, i wouldn't want president obama to declare any kind of sin as a special "pride" month. i'm surprised that he would do so in the case of homosexuality. you are correct that the christian church has a lot of cleaning up to do within itself, for example, in respect to arrogance, materialism, pride, greed, etc. the church is guilty of being "blind" to its own sins in this respect. but that can't be used as an excuse for being silent on other sins, such as abortion and homosexual activity. we need to understand the whole will of God and seek to walk in it, if we fail, we need to repent, recommit to the right path, and walk in it. thanks for your question.
p.s. you mentioned Romans 8:1. this is speaking to christians, true christians. a real christian is no longer living in the sin of homosexuality, that is, as a continuous lifestyle or constant practice. why? because he/she has been set free from the power of that sin by the power of God. can a christian fall into that sin again? yes, that's possible. they would need to repent and recommit themselves to God again, but they would never seek to justify their sins or argue that it isn't sin at all. they would never seek to promote "gay pride" or legitimize what they know is wrong according to the bible. instead, they'd try to promote leading other out of that sinful lifestyle. when the apostle paul writes to converts to christianity, he always distinguished between what they were before Christ with what they are now in Christ. that's what true conversion is.

I have been reading your comments on gay christians and I've been confused about this subject for a while now. In the same passage of scripture that you quote from (i.e. Romans 1:24-32), homosexuality is listed with things like God-haters, evil, greed, murder and so on. On that basis, I can see why the church views homosexuality as a serious sin. In the same list in Romans however, and described by Paul as coming from a depraved mind, are such things as envy, strife, gossiping, being insolent, arrogance, boasting etc, which churches are often full of and which are often displayed by Christians without reproach.
I just wonder if you would have taken the stance you have if Barack Obama had declared 'arrogance-pride' day. Or any sort of a 'pride' day (isn't pride a sin?).
Let me say that I am a heterosexual Christian who has been raised to believe that homosexuality is a sin. What I find difficult is the amount of focus placed on it by the church who then allow hurtfulo gossip to run rife, and church leaders to display arrogance.
And by the way, does Romans 8:1 come into this debate?

jahlom, thanks for your comments. if you read my sermon again, you'll find that the apostles equated their own message with the Word of God, for example, 1 thes. 2:13. Peter referes to Paul's writings as "scripture" classifying them in the same category as the Old Testament writings, 2 Peter 3:15-16. the early church called both the Old Testament and the apostles' writings the Word of God. mke a study of the entire New Testament and you'll find that Christians included the newer writings of the apostles and their associates with the older O.T. writings. all of the new testament writings were complete by the end of the 1st century and being circulated and read in the christian churches. a few centuries later, the canon of scripture was officially recognized and closed, but by that time the writings were already considered the Word of God or scripture. i hope that answers your question. thanks again for asking.

It amazes me that Christians are always talking about how terrible the Pharisees were. Funny they haven't notice that they have become the new Pharisees. Dogmatic and unmovable based on learned knowledge.

Christianity is an institution created by Roman. The faith that Jesus practiced was indeed Judaism. The evidence is clear. The Catholic Church changed so much in order to use it as control. Today we are told not to question anything. The Bible said that the Holy Spirit would be our teacher, yet we still sit week after week and allow someone to give their hand-me down version of scripture that is explained using their own perspective and understanding. Education usually only consist of someone's degree. But we wonder why there is so much confusion and why the "Church" is such a disappointment to many. The Bible said the Truth will set you free! So when are we going to admit there is something wrong.
When are "Christians" going to admit that this country was founded on the unrighteous premise of slavery and racial discrimination. Believers have not even apologized for the unresponsivness actions to the Holocaust.
Jesus asked us to heal the broken hearted heal the sick and set the captive free.
Most Christians feel that that means to throw money at some poor helpless African. ( guilt money).
Why can't believers do miracles?
Thanks for sharing. RADIKAL TRUTH.

All the scriptures you use to validate your point are from the new testament. But the "new testament" wasn't known as the Word of God when Paul and rest were writing them. The Bible (Torah and prophets) were what Jesus and Paul, etc. used to quote from.
Question? Where did the New testament come from? Also, there are no copies of the original text.
I don't think most people are saying that Paul's writings aren't true or important, but to call them the Word of God? I see nothing wrong with asking the question. Besides, the "new testament" tells us to search out these things to see if they be true!
Thanks for sharing

thanks for your comment. i like to think of myself as a somewhat deep thinker, but in all honesty, i'm not dealing with any particulary troubling doubts about the Christian faith, the Bible, salvation, etc. right now. i think i grappled with more of these issues in college and seminary. so whether people can relate to that or not I've got to be honest and say I thank God I'm not dealing with any troubling doubts about faith right now. i doubt more my own ability to discern the will of God through prayer and follow the leading of the Spirit, but I don't doubt God's Word is true or that the promises of God are true. you are right, it might connect better with people if I really did have more doubts about the Bible and Christian truth, but i can still certainly empathize with people who are dealing with doubts, because, like i said, I've gone through that before, but not presently. anyway, i'd like to be used of God to help lead people out of doubt and into faith, not just leave them there or join them. faith is better than doubt. besides, i'd rather inspire people to faith, rather than merely relate with them in doubt. thanks again for your comment.

I think this post would be more powerful if you did, in fact, have doubts. Are you sure that you have none? I mean, Jesus had doubts in the garden... Job had doubts... David had doubts... I wonder, pastor, if you are able to look at doubt straight in the face for yourself? I can only imagine that it would have a positive effect on the quality of your ministry certainly those REAL people, the folks in the pews, will better relate).
